Mark Chalkley (U18)
Mark Chalkley plays on the left wing for Square FC Under 18s. He has won 26 medals in his career so far. He enjoys history and anything about World War two and especially aircraft. Mike likes pets. He has an iguana, tortoise, hamster, budgie and 37 fish! His ambition in life is to go to university and get a PhD in History. Mark supports Manchester United and Luton Town.
Rob Courtnell (U18)
Rob Courtnell played as a defensive midfielder in the Under 14s but now occupies the centre defender role in the Under 18s. He likes playing rugby for Dunstablians and hanging out with his mates. He likes listening to music and watching the TV. His favourite football team is the Milton Keynes Dons and he watches them as much as he can.
Danny Curran (U18)
Danny Curran plays for Square FC Under 18s in the wing back position. Danny attends the Square Methodist Youth Club. Danny has had a 100% attendance record for every game ever played for the Under 14s in their first season (2003/2004), and has been ever present this current season. Danny says, “I should get some sort of medal surely.” Danny was the first winner of our “Player of the Year” trophy. He enjoys listening to music, playing computer games and talking to his friends. Danny supports Manchester United, Carlisle United and the MK Dons.
Darren Custance (U18)
After a successful career at Dunstable Rangers spanning five years and 147 goals Darren Custance was involved in a big money move during the summer (£2.50) which saw him arrive at Square FC! In his spare time he likes to watch the Champions elect of Coca Cola League One, Luton Town, at the theatre of football, Kenilworth Road. His hobbies are entering MENSA competitions and extreme ironing at weekends. His ambition is to get back and defend a corner at least once this season!
Jack Firth (U18)
Jack Firth plays centre defence for Square FC Under 18s, this is his favourite position as he models himself on Tony Adams and Sol Campbell. Jack occasionally plays in midfield, and like Tony Adams, Jack gets as much satisfaction in keeping a clean sheet as he does scoring goals. He has captained the team on several occasions, and has also played for Square since it started. His grandfather was capped for England schoolboys in the 1940s and played for a short while as goalkeeper for Bradford City. Jack is an avid Arsenal fan and makes regular trips to Highbury to see the champions in action. His favourite all time player was Tony Adams. His current favourite is Robert Pires.
Matthew Kimani (U18)
Matthew Kimani plays for Square FC Under 18s and also plays for his School team. Matthew likes play striker but his P.E teacher thinks he could be fantastic if he played right or left-sided midfield in an eleven-a-side team. Matt says: “My friends call me Ronaldinho wannabe, because they think I’ve got most of his skills. I don’t get to use them much in a match though playing up front!!” Matt likes Hip Hop music but to him football comes first. He’s working hard to achieve his dream of becoming a professional footballer.
Matt Reed (U18)
Matt Reed is 14 years old and stars for the Under 18s. He was won 8 league titles with 3 clubs; Icknield, Beecroft and Limbury, and he wants to make it 9! He enjoys holding intellectual discussions with his cat, Sox. He works as a paperboy with Hayhoes. When Matt leaves school he wants to take up newspaper-delivery professionally. Matt is a dedicated member of Greenpeace and when he doesn't have a game he ties himself to trees. His favourite film is Evita. He supports Chelsea.
Andrew Kight (U18)
Andrew Kight was snapped up on a free transfer in the summer, having starred in Dunstable Rangers U14 double-winning side. He is a big goalkeeper, who let in less than a goal-a-game last season. Andrew likes taking penalties and scoring goals, but sees the huge importance of defending. He says that, "scoring goals wins you matches, but keeping clean sheets wins you championships." Andrew is a massive sports fan, supporting the Mighty Luton Town, and also loves to play rugby, and in particular, cricket. |
