Square Rangers 5 Luton
On Track 2
Saturday 7th October
Square Rangers gained their first points in the South Beds Saturday
League thanks to a well earned 5-2 victory over a spirited Luton
On Track team.
The first half saw Square Rangers exert a lot of early pressure
on the visitors’ goal only to see them fall a goal behind
from a swift counter attack. Rangers responded well, although clearly
frustrated that many good goal scoring opportunities failed to find
the back of the net. Joe Evans however capped a fine first half
performance by levelling the scores following great work by Jack
Sullivan down the right wing.
The second half became more open as Square Rangers were able to
release the ball away from a congested midfield to hit the right
passes into the space down the two flanks. This created good chances
in front of goal as players unselfishly supplied others in better
positions where it was pleasing to see our boys hit home some fine
goals. The visitors battled hard never allowing our defenders to
fall into complacency, but credit to all the Rangers players whose
team work and determination saw them through to a deserved victory.
Man of the Match:
Joe Evans (chosen by
Kevin Sullivan)
Highlight of the Match:
Square Rangers all important
second goal which put them in front. A great run by Matt Childs
unselfishly set up Jake Gill, whose close range effort was scrambled
away to the edge of the area only to be slammed home by Joe Evans
with a great low drive.
