Luton On Track 2 Square
Rangers 8
Saturday 11th November
Square Rangers maintained their good run thanks to this impressive
result against spirited Luton on Track.
A long-ball style of play was adopted as best to overcome the unusually
small sized pitch, and to be fair the players took time to adjust
to both in the early stages, and as a result they soon found themselves
falling a goal behind. However, once Square Rangers got used to
the conditions they began to assert themselves on the game, and
this enabled them to score four goals before the half time break.
The second half took off where the first half left and despite Rangers
conceding an early goal through a well taken free-kick they were
able to gain supremacy quickly and put the home side under a lot
of pressure. The host of chances created gave most of the players
an opportunity in front of goal as confidence grew within the side
to push forward. As a result a further four goals were added, however
Luton on Track always carried a threat and were it not for some
inspired goalkeeping from Ryan and courageous defending from our
defenders the score-line could have been closer.
Goal scorers:
Matt Childs(4), Joe Evans,
Jack Sullivan, Jake Gill, Nathan Berry
Man of the Match: (chosen by Sue Custance)
Josh Berry
Highlight of the match:
It would have to be the
bravery displayed by the players. The fact that both teams competed
hard on a small pitch made the physical aspect inevitable, and yet
our players stood the test by being brave for the cause of the team.
This was clearly illustrated by Josh, Tom, Ryan and Joe who each
incurred injuries through their commitment to the game.
