Square Rangers 0 Eaton
Bray Lions 3
Saturday 18th November
Square Rangers playing their second home match of the season had
a very mixed morning of football, which at the final whistle left
them feeling frustrated by the outcome of the match.
Rangers were made to work hard by a totally committed Eaton Bray
team and as a result the match was finely balanced. Rangers were
denied the space especially in midfield that they are usually accustomed
to, and it became clear that any openings in front of goal would
have to be worked hard for. It was therefore unfortunate for Rangers
that the visitors’ goalkeeper was in fine form, keeping out
many of our efforts with some fine saves, ably assisted at times
by his defenders. This seemed to give the visitors confidence to
push forward which as a result gave them the impetus to score three
goals. The longer the match progressed however the more we became
frustrated, which unfortunately as a result led to the players panicking
- both in attack and defence.
However at any stage of the match you could not fault the effort
of the Square Rangers team, and clearly their endeavours, especially
in midfield should have been better rewarded.
As said at the end of the match, our players can learn much from
matches like this, sometimes you do not get the rewards from a match
that you believe you deserve. This will make our players stronger
from the experience.
Man of the match: (chosen by Shain Gill)
