Memorial Park A 7 Square
Rangers 3
Saturday 30th September
2006
The eleven Square Rangers played did themselves credit by their
effort and application to a keenly fought contest.
The first half saw Square respond to going a down early on by rattling
the woodwork on two occasions before getting a deserved equaliser.
The boys quickly realised getting the ball forward quickly was better
suited than a short passing style and this they exploited to good
effect, such that they were rather unfortunate to go to the break
a goal down.
Square were a good match for the well organised and compact home
team for most of the second half and at 3-2 and 4-3 they were always
in the game. Unfortunately without a substitute to rest weary legs,
tiredness and lack of concentration crept into the latter stages
of Rangers’ play in which Memorial Park exploited with three
goals. This was a shame as the boys’ performance was better
than the final score might suggest.
Highlight of the match was goal keeper Ryan Larrington’s fine
save from the penalty spot.
