City came to Dunstable with a reputation for resilient, solid, defending
from their previous 2 meetings. Square were on a run of 3 clean
sheets, so needed to keep their concentration to extend this run,
and be at their best if they were to score.
This was a bright morning, on a very soft pitch, and Square started
well, with their team play in evidence, as the ball was moved around
the available space on the pitch.
Man of the match Tom Foster looked sharp, as he found the net twice
in the first half from very tight angles, and completed his hat-trick
in the second half.
Alex drilled the ball into the goal, for a 3-0 lead at half time.
Chris Matthews skilfully turned a defender, and the goalkeeper,
to tuck the ball into the net to complete the scoring.
However defenders Josh, Jonny and Joe all had their chances throughout
the game, but were all just wide of the target.
Chris Jones was excellent in goal with his shot stopping, and good
handling, and also had another opportunity of a run out in midfield,
while Tom Foster took over in goal.
This result has secured the 2nd place in the league for Square,
but with a game against league leaders Hightown still to play, they
must stay focussed if they want to get a result from that match.
