Square FC 3 Hightown 3
Saturday 13th January 2007
Playing the league leaders
in the first game after the Christmas break was never going to be
easy. Square had an early shock as Hightown took a 2 goal lead in
the first 10 minutes. It then became an evenly matched competition
with Alex hitting the post, and Joe having a free kick tipped over
the bar. However by half time Square were 3 goals down, and needed
a boost in confidence.
The second half continued
with entertaining football from both teams, but it took until the
last 10 minutes for a chance to fall to James, who calmly placed
the ball into the net. This inspired extra effort from Square, and
the game was turned on its head with further goals from Alex and
James to level the score.
The tense final 2 minutes
could have seen the game go either way, and after the high drama
of the game, the result was a fair reflection of the efforts of
both teams.
Man of the match:
Goalkeeper Chris Jones,
for some excellent saves, brave 1 on 1s, and good ball distribution.
