With only 4 games remaining,
and with all the chasing teams having games in hand, Square needed
to maintain their standing in the league.
MBC worked hard early in the game, and closed down the Square possession.
The first clear chance fell to Chris Matthews, who had to look sharp
to slot the ball in the net. However the rest of the half continued
to be closely contested. MBC created pressure with their long goal
kicks, and it needed Josh and Joe at their best to contain the threat.
In the second half Square started to run the game, building attacks
across the pitch. Tom Foster broke through, forcing a good save
from the MBC keeper, but shortly after he found the net to extend
the Square lead. Chris Matthews added to his tally, and in the final
minutes came close to a third, which was parried by the keeper into
the path of Alex who tapped the ball home.
