Square FC 3 The Green
House 0
Saturday 24th March 2007
Square completed a comprehensive
victory over The Green House to become league champions for the
second time in three seasons.
Playing with the wind behind them, Square totally dominated the
first half but only led 1-0 at the break with a goal from top scorer
Darren. A combination of the Green House defence and the woodwork
prevented Square from having a bigger lead.
Square effectively finished the game as a contest when Darren struck
twice early in the second half to complete his hat-trick. A combination
of Square relaxing and Green House not giving up made the rest of
half reasonably even but the Square defence never looked like conceding.
A word of praise for Jack who nearly scored three times and deserved
a goal.
Goalscorers:
Darren Custance 3.
Man of the Match:
Mark Chalkley –
an excellent all round midfield performance, just edging out Darren.
Summary:
Another excellent display from Square and proof that there is good
strength in the squad as this victory was completed without the
“superstars”. James Kight, stepping up from the Under
15’s, and Jack Firth, regular substitute, stepped into the
breach and contributed to the victory.
