Cup Quarter Final
Harvest Church belied their lowly league position as they made Square
fight for the narrow victory that allowed them to progress into
the semi final of the cup.
Square’s first half performance was somewhat subdued and Harvest
Church seemed the more determined of the two sides and always carried
a threat. Although they never really got going, Square did take
the lead with a goal from Matthew. However Harvest Church kept battling
away and Square were grateful that Andy Kight and Ben Keble were
able to keep the Harvest threat at bay.
Square struck early in the second half, again through Matthew, and
it looked, at that point, as if Square would complete a comfortable
victory. This was far from the case as Harvest Church fought back
and they scored a goal that their performance thoroughly deserved.
However Square did enough to progress to the next round.
Goalscorers:
Matthew Kimani (2).
Man of the Match:
Ben Keble – another
excellent performance.
Summary:
A strangely, in and out performance from Square. I will put it down
to the pitch, which did not suit Square’s passing game, and
the fact that it was their first game since the Christmas break.
However, despite the above, Square did create more scoring opportunities
than their opponents but it will require a much improved performance
when we meet Hightown next week.
