Square FC began the new season with a comprehensive victory against
a very young City Church side at St Albans.
Although Square had the majority of possession and chances, they
were unable to break the deadlock and the score was at half time
was 0-0. The score line was contributed to the City side stubborn
performance and Square inability to break them down.
The second half continued in much the same manner but Square made
their superiority tell with 4 goals though Darren Custance (3) and
Jack Firth. Throughout the half the City Church, to their credit
never gave up, but they were unable to get any reward, even missing
a penalty late on.

Man of the Match:
Otto Da-lbanga –
throughout the game City Church were unable to cope with Otto’s
pace. This and Darren’s goals sealed City’s fate.
Summary:
Square performance was somewhat in and out and I put that down to
the first game of the new season. We can, and will, play a lot better
than this but it was a comfortable victory. City Church fielded
a very young side but Square were too strong for them. However City
Church never gave the game up and I think, once they get more experience,
they will improve.
