Square FC 6 HFC 1
Square’s magnificent first half performance secured the Cup
and thereby the League and Cup double.
The first half mirrored the recent league game, with Square dominating
the early part of the game and building a match winning half time
lead. Square were superb and lead 5-0 with goals from Matthew (4)
and Otto. The match was effectively won at this point.
HFC Rangers now had nothing to lose and they threw caution to the
wind in an attempt to get back in the game. Square’s defense
held firm but conceded a goal midway though the half. However this
only spurred Square back into action and Tom restored the 5 goal
lead.
Goalscorers:
Matthew Kimani 4, Otto
Da-lbanga 1, Tom Mitchelmore 1
Man of the Match:
Matthew Kimani –
HFC Rangers had no answer to him. Scored 4 and was such a threat
along with Otto.
Summary:
Square, although having won 2 out of the last 3 Under 18 league
titles (runners up in the other) had never won the cup until now.
The result was never in doubt once they moved into the first half
lead, and despite HFC Ranger‘s second half performance were
worthy winners. Again, every player contributed to another excellent
performance.
