Square FC 7 Cornerstone
0
Saturday 1st March
Square returned to their
winning ways against Cornerstone, to maintain their challenge in
the 3 way tussle for the league title.
It was an evenly matched first half, with Square playing against
the blustery wind.
The deadlock was broken with a moment of brilliance from Chris Jones,
who carried the ball almost the full length of the pitch, and then
delivered a telling pass through to Matt, who finished the move
with a confident goal.
The rest of the half was a well fought contest, seeing some excellent
football from both teams, and finished with only the single goal
between the sides.
Square started the second half with extra energy, as Cornerstone
battled against the wind. With some well constructed moves, Square
started picking up goals.
Alex fired in 3 for his hat trick, and Matt picked up his second
with a well taken half volley on the turn. A further goal came from
Chris Matthews,( who also had a penalty saved), and Freddie also
took his chance to add to the score sheet.
Josh played an important part throughout the game, finding the right
positions to defend and support the attacks, and an excellent 2nd
half for Harry, playing outfield, showed the contributions he can
make to defence and attack.
This was a great performance from the team, with some well built
and excellently finished goals, as well as keeping a clean sheet.
This was the preparation for next weeks cup semi final, as Square
will need to be at their best for this upcoming game.
