City Church 1 Square
FC 2
Saturday 2nd February
2008
An excellent second half
finish by Matt Custance was enough to seal the win from City, when
he steered the ball past the keeper into the low corner of the net.
Square’s Chris Matthews had earlier taken the lead at the
far post with a well taken header from a perfectly placed cross
from Ben.
The result was tough on the City side, having caused numerous problems
throughout the game. They could have had a two goal lead in the
first half but were denied by heroics from Chris Jones in goal.
Square had their chances too, but the sticky pitch conditions made
good football hard to produce and goal chances became difficult
to finish.
City never gave up hope and a break away goal late in the game brought
the game back within their reach and made for an entertaining finish
to the game.
Man of the match:
Ben Edmonds, whose effective
play created the best chances of the game.
