Mid Beds 1 Square FC 7
Saturday 19th January
2008
Initially MBC were up for the fight as they
scrapped and harried and held their own, but were powerless to prevent
Matt opening the scoring , and then soon after picking up his second
goal.
Square’s fluid one and two-touch passing dominated the game,
and Square found total freedom to stroke the ball around but surprisingly
they unwisely tried too hard to impress, and loose passing at the
end of the first half kept giving possession away.
Alex added two more goals to the first half total, but MBC reduced
the deficit before the break, riding tackles in the Square goal
area before thumping the ball past Ben in goal.
After the restart Square eased into a steady rhythm, and Alex completed
his hat-trick, somehow squeezing the ball through from a tight angle
on the left, and later added a 4th with an excellent shot from distance.
Matt finally got his third goal by keeping his composure in the
goal mouth, to tuck the ball in the net, past the keeper.
Summary:
The way Square played was an excellent response to the result last
week when they lost 1-0 to St Marys. They did not give many chances
away and scored goals away from home. It shows how much the team
is up for it and want to compete for the league.
Man of the Match:
Josh Berry, playing some excellent intelligent play on both sides
of the pitch.
