Hightown Elite 0 Square
FC 7
Saturday 27th October
2007
Square United put in their
best performance to date as they emphatically defeated a game Hightown
side.
In their previous games, Square had not started with the urgency
required and this has lead to, by Square’s standards, indifferent
performances despite victories. However the whole team was extremely
focused and they dominated Hightown from the start and they had
compiled a 5-0 lead by half time with goals from Darren (3), Jamie
and James Kight’s first goal for the Under 18’s.
Square continued in the same vein in the second half and, despite
Hightown’s best endeavors, they had scored further goals from
Darren and Jamie. Hightown were always in the game despite the scoreline
but the Square defence held firm throughout. Square could have been
forgiven for relaxing in the second half but they maintained the
pressure to the end.
Goalscorers:
Darren Custance 4, Jamie
Copperwheat 2, James Kight 1
Man of the Match:
Jamie Copperwheat –
had an excellent game throughout and formed an excellent partnership
with Darren.
Summary:
The final score was perhaps a little harsh on Hightown, who contributed
to an extremely good game of football, but I felt that the quality
of Square’s performance merited this comprehensive victory.
This has shown the standard of performance that Square are capable
of and to which they must aspire to in each game from now on.
