Cornerstone Trinity 0
Square United FC 4
Saturday 29th September
2007
Square United began the
defence of their league title with a 4-0 away victory at Cornerstone.
As in past seasons, Square began the game slowly and as a result,
the game was very even until Square got into their stride and Darren
struck twice before half time. Cornerstone were always in the game
but were unable to take the chances that came their way.
The second half saw Square take command and Jamie struck with his
first goals for Square to complete the victory. Whilst Cornerstone
never gave up, Square were always in control and could well have
increased their lead before the end.
Goalscorers:
Darren Custance 2,
Jamie Copperwheat 2
Man of the Match:
Ben Keble – an excellent
performance carrying on from his displays of last season.
Summary:
Although getting away to a slow start, I was pleased with the overall
performance considering it was Square’s first game of season.
The number of chances we created was most encouraging and it was
good that all of the squad contributed to this victory. I felt,
particularly in the second half, that we dominated the game in the
same style we did last season.
