Harvest Omega 1 Square
United 3
Saturday 1st December
2007
Square secured another
win in a competitive football game against Harvest Omega but could
have had a more comfortable victory if they had taken their chances.
In the first half Square dominated for the majority of it but Harvest
were always a threat on the breakaway. The longer the half went
on it seemed that it was a day when the chances were never going
to go in but Darren struck just before the break, 1-0.
Having taken the lead Square, although still playing well, again
let chances go and this seemed to encourage the opposition and they
equalized half way through the half. Thereafter the game could have
gone either but Square stepped up their performance and scored twice
in the last five minutes through Jamie and Darren.
Goalscorers:
Darren Custance 2, Jamie
Copperwheat 1
Man of the Match:
Tom Mitchelmore - the
defence were excellent today and Tom was outstanding.
Summary:
With the attack not taking their chances the Square defence was
cornerstone of the Square victory. I thought that the overall performance
was excellent but the game was made “difficult” by the
fact that we did convert our chances. The pleasing fact was that
we still creating numerous chances and we dominated the opposition
for the majority of the game (even better in that we had no substitutes
available and the players had no opportunity to be rested).
