Square United 9 HFC Rangers

Saturday 10th November
2007
Square comprehensively
defeated HFC Rangers with another excellent performance in a high
scoring game.
On paper this was a difficult game for Square but HFC Rangers were
unable to cope with the attacking force of Darren and Jamie and
Square lead 5-2 at the break with goals from Darren (4) and Jamie.
Despite this scoreline, HFC were not out of the game.
However any chance HFC may have had disappeared with further goals
from Darren, Tom, Jamie and Ben to lead 9-2. To their credit HFC
kept battling and pulled back two late goals but there were merely
consolation goals. This was a bit of a shame as Square’s defence
had handled the HFC strikers very well for most of the game.
Goalscorers:
Darren Custance 5, Jamie
Copperwheat 2, Tom Mitchelmore 1, Ben Keble 1
Man of the Match:
Jamie Copperwheat - his
link up play and his contribution to the performance was first class.
Summary:
I thought that some of the football played, and the finishing, was
the best that Square has produced this season. The fact that HFC
Rangers, although an extremely good attacking side, scored four
was more down to Square’s occasional slack defending, particularly
the last two.
