Square Rangers 1 Square
United 3
Saturday 8th December
2007
All credit to both Square
sidesfor their battling display but United were the stronger side,
particularly in the second half, and deservedly won this derby game
played on a cold, wet and windy day.
The first half saw United battling for control but Rangers were
always creating problems. There were very few clear cut chances
but United took a first half lead when a shot from Mark Chalkley
was deflected into the Rangers net.
The second half started with Rangers grabbing an early equalizer
when a firm shot from Alex Marsh eluded Andy Kight in goal to level
the scores. United responded by taking control and pushed Rangers
back and they eventually made their pressure pay when Darren and
Tom scored to seal a 3-1 victory.
The weather conditions and the cut up pitch did not help the two
teams to place good passing football (big thank you to the spectators
who braved the weather). However both sides did their best to make
this a good football match but United’s experience saw then
home.
